[Video Goals] Man City 2-2 Arsenal: Sanchez Strike Dents City’s Top Four Hopes

By on May 8, 2016

Arsenal came from behind twice to rescue a useful 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors started strongly and deservedly opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Sergio Aguero fired past Pert Cech for 1-0.

Arsenal responded immediately and drew level when Olivier Giroud ended his long goal-scoring drought as he headed home a Mohamed Elneny corner in the 10th minute.

City restored their advantage shortly after half-time as Kevin De Bruyne waltzed his way through the Arsenal team before firing into Cech’s near post from the edge of the area to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute.

Arsenal once again hit back and levelled things up at 2-2 when Alexis Sanchez played a superb one-two with Giroud before slotting past Joe Hart from the edge of the box in the 68th minute.

City almost won it late on as Wilfried Bony crashed one off the bar but it ended 2-2 which leaves Arsenal needing just a point at home to Aston Villa to guarantee third whereas City’s top four hopes hand in the balance as they’re just two points above Man Utd – who have a game in hand.
