The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal join the race to sign Bryan Cristante…

Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign on-loan Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante in a potential £27m deal this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Cristante came through the AC Milan youth set-up before joining Benfica in 2014 but he’s played just 7 games for the Portuguese giants having been shipped out on loan for the past two seasons.

The 23-year-old is currently enjoying an excellent spell on loan with Atalanta where he’s scored 10 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

That impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Liverpool are among a clutch of clubs keen on luring Cristante to England this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a central midfielder as Emre Can is being tipped to join Juventus when his contract expires in June and it seems the Reds boss has earmarked Cristante as a potential replacement.

However, Liverpool could now face further competition for his signature as the newspaper is citing a report from TuttoSport that claims Arsenal have now joined the chase for Cristante’s signature.

The Gunners are expected to continue their squad overhaul this summer after a disastrous campaign and a new centre-midfielder is needed as Santi Cazorla is unlikely to play again due to injury while Jack Wilshere’s contract is due to expire in June.

Granit Xhaka has also been a disappointing signing since arriving in 2016 so Arsenal could be viewing Cristante as a possible solution to their midfield problems this summer.

The Mirror claim that the Italian international is valued at £27m and that sort of money shouldn’t pose too much of a problem for the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool so it will be interesting to see if either club manages to lure Cristante to England.
