Bordeaux star Marouane Chamakh has been a hot topic again in today’s transfer news, with both Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez having their say on where the striker could end up.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Chamakh recently, with Liverpool being reported to have agreed a pre-contract with him, only for the player to suggest his preference if he came to the Premier League would be Arsenal.

When asked about Chamakh Wenger remained tight-lipped.

“I believe he talks to many clubs, that he is entitled to do,” said the Arsenal manager.

“He is free to sign a pre-contract. He is free to sign where he wants but I cannot interfere in that.

“We are talking to nobody. We are focusing on tomorrow’s game.”

Rafa Bentiez on the other hand feels Liverpool are unlikely to land the Moroccan star.

“I think that we will not sign him, but I will not say [any more].”

After confirming he will not be signing a contract extension with  Bordeaux and his current deal expiring in the summer, Chamakh is free to talk to any club he wants and sign a pre-contract agreement.
