Fergie Claims 6-Way Fight For The Title This Year

By on September 8, 2011

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits reclaiming their Premiership title is harder than ever and claims there are up to six teams battling out for the Championship.

The Scot acknowledges Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City will pose the obvious threat but admits a revitalised Liverpool and ambitious Tottenham can also mount a serious challenge to their 20th league title.

“I think you could say that five or six teams will be involved,” he told Sky Sports News HD.

“It’s always hard to win the league. It’s a league that if you look at it, in the south you have the London teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea and then you have ourselves, Manchester City and Liverpool in the north.

“It’s a really, really difficult league to win.”

Fergie has again put his faith in youth this season.

“You have to try and build teams that will last for a few years,” he said.

“We have done that quite successfully over the years. This is another example of trusting the young players and giving them opportunities.”

Ferguson is looking forward to the influential Darren Fletcher slipping back into the fold.

“It was important for him to get a game,” Ferguson said of his fellow Scot.

“He was back training with us, but the team had started so well so opportunities hadn’t arisen for him before he went to play for Scotland.

“The fact that he has gone there and done so well is major for his recovery.”

Obviously it will be hard but I still rate Chelsea higher than the mentioned clubs en it will be easily done if we only recorgnise the inform players and stop playing names. We only need to inject something in the Midfield en parrade a good defending mechanisms.
