Arsenal Ace Praise’s Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott admits Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has the potential to be on the plane for England to the Euro 2012 Championships.

Walcott can empathise with the former Southampton youngster having completed the same journey from the Championship to Arsenal and Walcott remains confident Oxlade-Chamberlain will take his chance when it comes.

The England winger also admitted he didn’t deserve his place in the 2006 World Cup squad, but feels with the Carling cup and Champions League experience Chamberlain already has under his belt, the teen has proved he has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

“When you get the opportunities [as a teenager] you have to grab it with both hands and he has done that,” Walcott told Arsenal Player .

“He’s shown what he can do in the Carling Cup games and the Champions League. He’s got a good head, he wants to learn, and that’s very important. He’s very relaxed as well and that does him a big favour because he fits in well.

“Alex has definitely got the potential to be there [at Euro 2012]. I don’t think I deserved to go to the World Cup in 2006 but I hadn’t played any games in the Premier League while Alex has played in the Champions League. He knows he has a lot to learn but he is showing very good signs at this moment in time.”

Walcott played the first half of England’s 1-0 victory against the reigning World Champions Spain on Saturday and is due to take part in tonights clash with Sweden.
