Gerrard admits Madrid is a Real possibility
By Football Talk.
Liverpool have been rocked by the news that captain Steven Gerrard told Spanish press that he’s aware of Real Madrid’s offer for him and that he could be a Madrid player next season, but insists he will not make a final decision on his future until after the World Cup.
The Daily Mail reports that speaking after England’s disappointing draw with Algeria on Friday night, Gerrard told Spanish journalists:
‘It is possible that I’ll be in Madrid next season. I’m aware of the club’s offer so maybe we’ll see each other in Madrid. I can’t say anymore.
‘I’m just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after it all.’
Despite Gerrard’s reluctance to discuss his future, the Spanish giants want Liverpool to drop their valuation of the player as they look to finalise a deal. Liverpool don’t want to sell the 30-year-old but know he is unhappy with how the club is progressing, but will only consider letting their talisman go if they receive a figure close to £30m. However, Real feel that fee is excessive and believe £20m is closer to the players value.
