Arsenal Transfer News: Frenchman Wants Move
With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal target Etienne Capoue is keen for a move.
Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue wants to leave the club this summer amid reported interest from Arsenal, according to Sky Sports News.
The 24-year-old has become one of the most highly-rated defensive midfielders in France after another excellent season in Ligue 1 last term. This form has lead to interest from several clubs throughout Europe with Arsenal thought to be monitoring the players situation.
Capoue has been with Toulouse for five seasons after making the move from Ligue 2 side Anglers in 2007, but it seems the France under-21 ace has decided its time to move on.
The player has declared he wants to leave the club to a team that can offer him Champions League football in order to boost his chances of breaking into the France senior squad.
“I want to play in the Champions League, and face the best teams in the continent. Toulouse cannot offer me that this season,”
“We missed out on Europe at the end of the Championnat. Yes, I want to leave.
“It’s not that I’m not happy at Toulouse, but I want to progress, pass a course and integrate as quickly as possible in the France team.”

However, club president Olivier Sadran insists they have not received any offers for Capoue as yet, and hinted that the player may not be ready for the big-time just yet.
“For Etienne, I have not received any offers. Many big clubs think that some of our top players have yet to mature,”
Sadran is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
Arsenal are believed to have short-listed Capoue as a possible addition after cooling their interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, but they may face competition from Sevilla after the Spanish side were also credited with interest.
