Holsbeeck Denies Arsenal Bid Reports

Anderlecht’s general manager has insisted they haven’t received any bids for Cheikhou Kouyate despite reports claiming Arsenal have made a move for the player

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Anderlecht deny receiving bids for Arsenal target Cheikhou Kouyate.

Cheikhou-Kouyate

Anderlecht insist they are yet to receive any bids for Cheikhou Kouyate despite reports claiming Arsenal have made a move for the midfielder, according to Sky Sports News.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a superb campaign in Belgium with Anderlecht last season and was also in good form for Senegal at the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer.

The players agent, Tedir Bekir, recently claimed that this form has prompted interest from several English teams, as well as clubs from Russia and Turkey.

“I have received several calls during the Games,”

“Almost every English team, but also Russian and Turkish teams. His versatility is an asset.”

Tedir Bekir is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Arsenal are one Premier League team who have been strongly linked with a move for Kouyate in recent days, with Sky Sports reporting the Gunners had submitted a bid for the player.

However, Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck has moved to deny these claims, insisting the club is yet to receive any formal offer for their man, before revealing it would take ‘a lot of money’ to land the talented midfielder.

Van Holsbeeck went on to question whether Kouyate would even be able to play in the Premier League, after only making 3 appearances for his country so far. When quizzed about reported interest from Arsenal, Van Holsbeeck  is quoted as saying by Sky Sports:

“There has been no bid for him,”

“We know some clubs have looked at him and he has been in the spotlight.”

“I don’t see anybody leaving, but if he leaves it would be for a lot of money,”

“But Kouyate cannot move to the Premier League because he has not played matches for Senegal.”
