Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Arsenal are linked with Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid are ready to sell Arsenal target Karim Benzema to make room for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, according to talkSPORT.
The 24-year-old moved to the Bernabeu from Lille in 2009 and has gone on to forge a reputation as one of Europe’s best forwards. Despite not always being considered as a first team regular during his four-year stint in Spain, Benzema has still managed to hit 70 goals in 145 appearances for Madrid.
However, Real boss Jose Mourinho want’s to add the prolific Radamel Falcao to his strike-force next summer and is ready to offload Benzema in order to make room for the Columbian hitman.
Mourinho already has Cristiano Ronaldo and Ganzalo Higuain on the books, as well as Benzema, so a successful move for Falcao would leave him overloaded up front and the Frenchman is seen as the man for the chop.
The news is almost certain to alert Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who is known to be a huge admirer of Benzema’s. The French boss has been linked with a move for the striker throughout his career and Wenger is keen to add an out-an-out goalscorer to his ranks.
The Gunners signed Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud last summer before selling Robin van Persie to rivals Manchester United, and Wenger is believed to be keen to add one more forward to his squad and would surely jump at the chance to sign one of his long-term targets.

However, should Benzema become available, Arsenal would face stiff competition from PSG who are keen to bring him back to France and the Londoners would struggle to match the big-spending Lique 1 sides financial power.
