Arsenal To Finally Land Gourcuff?

By on October 27, 2012

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Yoann Gourcuff is linked with Arsenal.

Yoann Gourcuff

Arsenal could finally land long-term target Yoann Gourcuff after Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas revealed he’s ready to sell the playmaker if a suitable offer comes in, according to Sky Sports.

Gourcuff was once considered as one of Europe’s most highly rated attackers and was considered a marquee signing for Lyon when they snapped him up from rivals Bordeaux in 2010.

However, the France international’s time at the Stade Gerland has been plagued by a series of injuries and he’s struggled for form during the past 18 months.

Now chairman Aulas has admitted the 26-year-old has so far proved to be a disappointing signing in terms of value for money and he would be willing to cash in if the right offer was tabled.

“He needs to win back his position in the team after his knee injury,”

“We hope he’ll be in the squad for the Marseille trip. If he comes back, if he has good offers and if he wants to leave, we could sell him.

“We made a huge investment to sign him when he was the best French player.

“For now, we can’t say this investment hasn’t been economically interesting.”

Aulas is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Gourcuff in recent transfer windows and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the player, so Aulas’ open invitation may alert the Frenchman.

While Gourcuff was a fine player in his prime, he’s far from his best these days. We could certainly do with adding to our attacking options when the window re-opens in January but I’d only really like to see Gourcuff come to the Emirates if we can pick him up in a cut-price deal and ensure he passes a rigorous medical!

I think we have enough fradgile players
without Gourcuff, are medical room is full already, but if he’s cheap and only got one leg,Wenger will buy him and think he’s got a bargain.

I think wenger can push him and tap his potential which we havn’t seen in a good 3-4 years. He has een plagued with injuries, but guess what? The same was said about van Parsie and Wenger showed som e faith in him. Look at him now, 24 million price tag and scoring goals still. Isco may be to costly, and we have a player of such quality that is even better with cazorla, but wilb e a good additon to a future gunner squad.

No, no, no to this guy
We even need to clear out fragile players already on our bill.
Our clinic of late has more players than the dressing room.

Arsenal Need striker . Not midfilder .
Our midfield is full of quality players .
In the other hand , Arsenal need combination & concentration .
I feel fustrated when I watch match.
    1. Tempo 2. Weak in physical
    3. They dont shoot to score from outside of 18 yards .
    4. Nervous whenever they got scored by opponent team.
Am I right ? Plz critise my idea !

I agree we need a striker before we get a midfielder, our priority I think should be getting Huntelaar and maybe one of Ben Arfa, Navas or Lopez, if we get a midfielder I think we need a combatitive Defensive Midfielder, maybe M’Vila or Tiote? Then I think that we would be set for a good season, as we could then primarily rotate in midfield between arteta, wilshere, carzorla and one of the new midfield signings while also having a new dimension to attack and another playmaker on the wings with Ben Arfa to take the pressure off Cazorla, what do you guys think?

i agree total with huntelaar, but ba isalso avalabul and cheap h also has premiur legs, also like lopez who can play wide or middle,we need mostly a solid midfielder like capone/bigli,and one are i thin we need is goalkeeper?een with chzney fit i think we shouldget shay given he can play and then coach or keepers?im nopt sure this season but we had gerry payton and martin poom as coaches they are not god eough we need someone current and given is sub at villa so wont be expensive!
