Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to splash £49m over the coming days as he closes in on a triple swoop for Loic Remy, Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports today.

Deals for Sanchez and Debuchy are understood to be close with some reports even suggesting they could be wrapped up as soon as today. A fee in the region of £30m has been agreed with Barcelona for Sanchez after his agent agreed personal terms over a four-year contract in London on Tuesday.

Reports in Spain claim the 25-year-old is set to fly in to the UK today to undergo a medical and complete his move to the Emirates after turning down the advances of Juventus and Liverpool.

The Chilean international is expected to be joined by Debuchy with the France international passing a medical on Monday after a deal understood to be worth around £11m was agreed with Newcastle United.

The 28-year-old will come in as a direct replacement for compatriot Bacary Sagna – who joined Manchester City on a free transfer last month – and will provide an experienced head for the likes of Carl Jenkinson and Hector Bellerin to learn from.

However, the spending doesn’t look like it’s about to stop there as the Mirror are reporting today that Wenger also wants to bring in French striker Loic Remy and is closing in on an £8m deal after holding formal talks with Queens Park Rangers.

Remy enjoyed a productive season on loan at Newcastle last year where he scored 14 goals in 26 games, but he wants to play in the Champions League this season and the newspaper claims that the 27-year-old is keen on making the move to the Emirates.

The former Marseille man fuelled speculation about a move to Arsenal when he was spotted in the crowd during our final home game against West Brom last season and it looks like we’re now set to sign him to add more depth to our strike-force following the departure of Nicklas Bendtner.

If we do end up landing Remy as well as Sanchez, then I think we’ll see at least one of Joel Campbell or Yaya Sanogo head out on loan this summer, and I’d personally like to see the young Frenchman leave as Campbell looks like he’s far more ready to play for the first team, but we’ll have to see what the club decides to do.

This would certainly be £49m well spent if we could pull off this triple swoop. Sanchez is obviously the star signing and would bring some much-needed pace and power to our attack, while Debuchy would be a solid replacement at right-back.

However, I also think Remy would be a shrewd purchase, especially at £8m. He has Premier League experience, has bags of pace, knows where the goal is and he’d give us vital options in the final third, so I hope the boss can get all three signings over the line.
