Odds Slashed As Arsenal Linked With Last Gasp Swoop For Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Arsenal are being linked with a sensational last gasp move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the closing stages of the transfer window, according to the Mirror.

Arsene Wenger has been tipped all summer to bring in another top class striker but it looked as though he was destined to end up empty handed after missing out on key targets such as Karim Benzema.

The boss was then snapped flying to Paris on Monday and the media claimed he was heading to the French capital to discuss potential deals for Edinson Cavani and midfielder Adrien Rabiot [via the Daily Mail].

However, the Metro are citing a report from the Evening Standard which claims that PSG have informed Arsenal that while Cavani isn’t for sale, they would consider cashing-in on Ibrahimovic.

This has led to widespread speculation suggesting the Swedish international could be heading to the Emirates Stadium and as the Mirror point out, bookmakers have reacted by slashing their odds on the mercurial hitman joining Arsenal before the 6pm deadline.

Betfred cut the odds of Ibrahimovic moving to North London from 20/1 to 5/1, Bet Victor have it at 6/4 while Betfair slashed the odds to just 2/1.

Could Arsene pull this off at the last minute? Ibra wouldn’t be the long-term solution to our striking problems but I’d love to see him join the club for a year or two. He’s a world class striker and even at 33, he’s still got a lot to offer.

I’d take him in a heart-beat as I think he’s an upgrade on Olivier Giroud and let’s face it, we’re not going to get the likes of Cavani or Benzema at this late stage.
