Chelsea begin life after Jose Mourinho with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues didn’t take long to open the scoring as Branislav Ivanovic headed home from a Willian corner to make it 1-0 in just the fifth minute.
Chelsea doubled their advantage just eight minutes later when Pedro Rodriguez fired home a left-footed finish from 12 yards after the visitors failed to clear an Ivanovic cross.
The home side took complete control of the game shortly after half-time when Oscar stroked home from the penalty spot after Willian was brought down in the area by Pantilimon.
Sunderland pulled one back in the 53rd minute when Fabio Borini was on hand to tap home after Thibaut Courtois had saved Younes Kaboul’s header.
However, Chelsea saw out the remainder of the game to secure a much-needed 3-1 victory which sees them move up to fifteenth place in the Premier League table.
