Man Utd Fail With Fresh Approach For £30m Chelsea Target
Manchester United have been left frustrated after Southampton rejected their latest approach to sign £30m-rated Chelsea target Sadio Mane this month.
With the winter transfer window now open for business, manager’s are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. Today, Man Utd fail with a fresh move for Southampton’s Sadio Mane….
Manchester United have been left frustrated after Southampton rejected their latest approach to sign £30m-rated Chelsea target Sadio Mane this month, according to the Mirror.
Mane enjoyed an excellent debut season at St Mary’s following his move from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2014 with the attacker hitting 10 goals in 30 appearances last campaign.
The 23-year-old has continued that fine form into this season with the player netting 7 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions so far and it’s led to some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs sitting up and taking notice.
Man Utd have long been linked with a move for Mane while the Mirror reported earlier this week that Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also joined the race for his signature after the Senegal international was left out of the squad last weekend as punishment for turning up late to a team meeting.
The Mirror are reporting today that United have responded to interest from the likes of Chelsea by making a fresh approach to Southampton to try and push through a £30m move for Mane this month.
However, it looks like the Red Devils are going to have to wait until the summer to try and get their hands on the attacker as the newspaper claims that Southampton have made it clear they aren’t willing to do business in January.
The news will come as a major blow to United as Louis van Gaal’s side desperately need an injection of creativity in the final third in order to boost their hopes of finishing in the top four or even making a late push for the title.
The Mirror suggest that Mane has already told the Saints he has no intention of signing a new contract but he’s willing to wait until the end of the season before trying to force a move away from the South Coast club.

The player will have two years left on his current deal in June so Southampton may be forced to cash-in this summer before his value starts to drop and it looks as though Mane will have the option of Chelsea or United if he wants to remain in the Premier League.
