Colchester vs Tottenham Preview, Team News, Line-Up, Betting Tips & Prediction
Tottenham take on Colchester in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score
Tottenham will look to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they take on Colchester United on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs enjoyed a mid-season break in Barcelona this week and they’ll be hoping to continue their excellent recent form on the road having not lost any of their last nine games away from White Hart Lane.
Their latest victory came with an impressive 3-1 win at Crystal Palace last weekend which saw fourth-placed Tottenham edge closer to Champions League qualification after extending their lead over Manchester United to five points.
However, Mauricio Pochettino will be switching his focus to FA Cup matters tomorrow and he’ll be looking to avoid a potential banana skin at League One Colchester.
Spurs needed a replay win at Leicester to book their place in the fourth round while Colchester eased past Charlton Athletic in the previous phase of the competition.

Team News
Spurs will have to make-do without the services of Jan Vertonghen after the Belgian international suffered a knee injury during the win at Selhurst Park last week.
Kevin Wimmer is expected to come in to the back four while Pochettino is likely to make some changes to his usual eleven with the likes of Hugo Loris, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane all rested.
That would open the door for some of the fringe players with Michel Vorm, Nabil Bentaleb and Tom Carroll pushing for game-time while Heung-min Son and Nacer Chadli could start in attack.
As for Colchester, Nicky Shorey and Darren Ambrose are pushing for starts after being left on the bench last time out.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Colchester 1-3 Tottenham: Spurs have been in decent form of late and even with a much-changed line-up, I can’t see anything past an away win. Colchester are sitting rock bottom of League One and the have a lovely playing surface which should suit Tottenham. Away win for me.
Betting Tips
Tottenham are the 4/11 favourites but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 4/1 on a Spurs victory – just click here to take advantage. My prediction of 3-1 is on offer at 10/1 and I also like the look of Heung-min Son opening the scoring at odds of 4/1. If you combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 25/1.
