West Ham vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Liverpool take on West Ham at Upton Park tonight in their FA Cup replay. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score
Liverpool will look to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they take on West Ham in their replay at Upton Park on Tuesday night.
The Reds were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Anfield in the original tie 10 days ago so the two clubs will now do it all again in the capital tonight with a trip to Blackburn Rovers awaiting the winners in the next round.
Jurgen Klopp should be back on the touchline after missing the 2-2 draw with Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday due to appendicitis and the German coach will be hoping to secure a much-needed victory in the cup after seeing their top-four hopes dashed in recent weeks.
However, West Ham are sure to be tough opposition at home and they got the better of Liverpool in the league meeting with goals from Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll giving the Hammers a 2-0 win last month.
Slaven Bilic will be demanding a response from his players after they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to 10-man Southampton on Saturday but despite that loss they still sit sixth in the table.
Team news
Liverpool are set to field a weakened team once again with Klopp ready to give some of his fringe and younger player a chance to impress.
Jon Flanagan, Brad Smith, Steven Caulker and Kolo Toure should make up the back four while Lucas Leiva is expected to start after being dropped to the bench against Sunderland last time out.
Daniel Sturridge was an unused substitute against the Black Cats but he’s set to make his first appearance since overcoming a hamstring injury that’s kept him out since December.
Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi are also set to return to the squad but may not be deemed fit enough to start just yet so they may have to make-do with places on the bench.
Dejan Lovren and Joe Allen picked up knocks at the weekend so are expected to miss out along with Martin Skrtel and Cameron Brannagan while the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, Emre Can and Alberto Moreno should get rests.
As for West Ham, they’ll be without defender James Tomkins after he limped out of the game at Southampton with a calf problem while Joey O’Brien is set to fill-in at right-back with Sam Byram cup-tied.
Diafro Sakho remains out with a thigh injury while Manuel Lanzini is also still missing with a muscle problem.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
West Ham 2-1 Liverpool: Inconsistent form has plagued Liverpool all season and I think an under-strength side might struggle at West Ham tonight. The Hammers are always tough to beat on home soil and I think they’ll have too much for the Reds this evening.
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
