Shrewsbury vs Man Utd Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Man Utd take on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup tonight. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Manchester United will look to book their place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup when they take on Shrewsbury Town tonight.
The Reds season went from bad to worse when they slumped to an embarrassing 2-1 defeat away to Danish minnows FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday night.
That result has piled further pressure on the shoulders of Louis van Gaal and the Dutchman will surely be on the brink of being sacked if United crash out of the FA Cup at League Two Shrewsbury tonight.
The majority of supporters are already demanding the Dutchman’s exit so his position at Old Trafford could become untenable if the Red Devils lose this evening.
Team News
van Gaal has mounting injury worries to contend with as David De Gea became the latest first team player to be ruled out after suffering a knee injury during the warm-up last Thursday.
The Spaniard has had scans which show no sign of serious damage but De Gea is still expected to miss out tonight so Sergio Romero should continue between the sticks.
Wayne Rooney is out for up to two months with a knee injury while Marouane Fellaini is also out with a hamstring problem so they join the likes of Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones on the sidelines.
Donald Love is cup-tied but Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is expected to recover from illness so he should return at left-back.
Likely Line-Ups
Shrewsbury team: Leutwiler; Whitbread, Knight-Percival, Grimmer, Brown; Whalley, Ogogo, Cole, Black; Mangan, Akpa-Akpro.
Predicted Score
Shrewsbury 1-2 Man Utd: The Red Devil’s season slumped to a new low on Thursday night and this is going to be like a cup final for Shrewsbury, but I still have a feeling United will do enough to book their place in the quarter finals where a home tie against West Ham awaits.
Betting Tips
United are the 1/3 favourites to win the game but as with any football tips it’s important to get the best possible odds and new customers can get enhanced odds of 4/1 on a United win with some bookies. My prediction of 2-0 is on offer at 5/1 while I also like the look of Martial to open the scoring at 10/3. If you combined those two bets in a score-cast then we get very tempting odds of 12/1.
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
