Arsenal Legend Makes His Prediction Ahead Of Tottenham v Aston Villa
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Tottenham’s crucial Premier League clash at Aston Villa on Sunday. See what he predicted here
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Tottenham’s crucial Premier League clash at Aston Villa on Sunday.
Spurs head to Villa Park tomorrow afternoon sitting five points adrift of Leicester City following last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino will therefore know that his side desperately need to come away with all three points on Sunday in order to keep the pressure on the Premier League leaders.
The Spurs boss made his priorities perfectly clear having rested several key men for Thursday’s 3-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League so Pochettino will be hoping the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli are fresh tomorrow.
Villa are almost certainly heading for the Championship and former Arsenal and Villa winger Merson believes Tottenham will put another nail in their coffin on Sunday with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said:
Spurs were on the end of a good hiding against Borussia Dortmund and I found it strange because you get so far in the competition and then make seven changes. It’s a shame for the fans who travelled over to Germany, but it was the same when Stoke went to Valencia a few years ago.
If that was the plan, you could say Spurs would have been better off beating Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and dropping the Europa League.
As for this game against Villa, it’s must-win for Tottenham. There is no messing about now because draws are not good enough and if it’s level in the last 15 minutes of matches, they have to go all out.
I think they’ll beat Villa by three goals, though. There’s not one Villa player that would get in the Tottenham team at the moment.
PAUL PREDICTS: 0-3
We’ll have to wait and see whether Merson’s prediction proves accurate but it is difficult to see anything other than a Spurs win tomorrow. Villa are in a complete mess and aside from the Dortmund result, Spurs have been excellent for much of the season.
