[Video Highlights] Man Utd 1-0 Aston Villa: Rashford Winner Relegates Villains

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game as Manchester United beat Aston Villa to consign the Midlands club to the Championship.

United scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game shortly after the half hour mark as Wayne Rooney sprayed a superb long range pass to find Antonio Valencia and the full-backs cross was turned home smartly by Rashford for 1-0.

The teenager almost made it 2-0 after being teed-up by Juan Mata while the little Spaniard went close to scoring himself midway through the second half only to be denied by Brad Guzan following a quick corner.

Villa almost grabbed an unlikely late equaliser when Gestede smacked the post with a well struck shot from a corner but United held out to secure a 1-0 win which sees them close the gap on fourth-placed Manchester City to just one point ahead of their visit to Chelsea this evening.

As for Villa, the defeat confirms what we’ve all know for several weeks, that they’ll be playing in the Championship next season.
