Man Utd Steal March On Chelsea After Submitting Record £60m Midfielder Bid
Manchester United have launched a £60m move to try and beat Chelsea to the signing of a world class player in what would be a British record transfer
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are linked with Paul Pogba….
Manchester United have launched a £60m move to try and sign reported Chelsea target Paul Pogba in what would be a British record transfer this summer, according to the Independent.
Jose Mourinho was confirmed as the new United boss last month and the Portuguese coach is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from sacked Dutchman Louis van Gaal.
It looks like Mourinho is hoping to make his first signing a big one as the Independent are carrying a report which originates from The Sun claiming that United have now launched a £60m bid to land Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
The French international joined Juve from United on a free transfer back in 2012 after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson and he’s developed in to one of the best all-round central midfielders in world football during his four years in Turin.
Pogba has attracted plenty of interest with the Daily Star reporting last month that Chelsea are also keen on signing the midfielder and have already held talks with his agent about a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
The Independent claim the Serie A champions are ready to cash in on the 23-year-old so they can use the money to strengthen their squad elsewhere and United have seemingly stolen a march on Chelsea after tabling a bid worth £48m up front with a further £12m coming in performance-based add ons.
Juventus are expected to hold out for a higher fee but if United could strike a deal for Pogba, it would represent a new British transfer record, eclipsing the £59.7m United paid Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria two years ago and it would be a huge statement of intent from the Red Devils.
Pogba would be a sensational signing if United could pull it off as central midfield has was an area of concern last season with Michael Carrick coming towards the end of his career while Bastian Schweinsteiger struggled with injuries during his debut season in England.

However, I wouldn’t discount Chelsea from the running just yet as Antonio Conte knows the Frenchman well from their time together at Juventus and I’m sure the Italian tactician would love to be reunited with Pogba in West London this summer.
