Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has snubbed interest from Arsenal and will only join Chelsea or Manchester United this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Alvaro Morata favours Chelsea or Man Utd move…
Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has snubbed interest from Arsenal and will only join Chelsea or Manchester United this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Morata’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks as Real Madrid are reportedly set to activate a £23m buyback clause which they agreed when they sold the striker to Juve in 2014 [source: AS].
The Spanish hitman would ideally like to stay at the Bernabeau but knows he will struggle to force his way in to the starting eleven while Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are on the books, so Madrid will look to immediately sell Morata on at a profit.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old this summer with ESPN reporting over the weekend that United were ready to steal a march on their rivals by tabling a formal offer for the striker.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Jamie Vardy has stalled so Arsene Wenger could be back on the market for a striker and Morata is reportedly on the Frenchman’s radar but it seems the Gunners are in for disappointment.
That’s because Spanish outlet AS claim that Morata has made it clear he’s only interested in joining either Chelsea or Manchester United this summer due to his affiliation with Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
Incoming Chelsea boss Conte was in charge at Juventus when Morata was signed two years ago and now the pair could be reunited at Stamford Bridge as the Italian coach looks to bring in support for Diego Costa up front.
However, the Blues will face stiff competition from United as Mourinho was the man who gave Morata his debut at Madrid back in 2010 and AS claim that the Special One has already phoned the striker personally to express his interest in luring him to Old Trafford.
United could certainly do with more firepower up front as they managed to score just 49 league goals last season but we’ll have to wait and see whether Morata opts for a move to Manchester or London if he comes to the Premier League this season.

Chelsea and United will need to be prepared to dig deep though as AS claim that Madrid are ready to demand £47.8m (€60m) for Morata’s signature this summer, which would be a huge investment for a striker that scored just 8 Serie A goals last year.
