Chelsea Team News: Conte Confirms Huge Injury Boost But Attacker Ruled Out
Antonio Conte has confirmed a huge injury boost ahead of Chelsea Premier League clash with Leicester but an attacker will miss the big game.
Premier League football returns from the international break this weekend as Chelsea take on Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Blues boss was pleased to confirm a huge injury boost with the news that John Terry is now fit and available for selection after finally overcoming a niggling ankle injury.
Terry has been on the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury during the final stages of the Blues 2-2 draw at Swansea City a month ago following a clash with Leroy Fer in stoppage time.
The 35-year-old has seen his comeback delayed by a number of minor setbacks in training but the centre-back was able to train freely during the international break and is now back in contention for tomorrow’s visit of Leicester.
Conte refused to confirm whether Terry would start the game but the skipper is expected to get a recall as Chelsea have sorely missed the defender and his absence was certainly felt during the defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal last month.
Chelsea switched to a 3-4-3 formation at Hull last time out so if Conte sticks with that system tomorrow then it will be interesting to see who makes way following Terry’s return to action.
However, there wasn’t such good news regarding Willian as the attacker has stayed in Brazil to be with his family following the death of his mother this week so will therefore not be available to take on the Foxes this weekend.
