Arsenal & Chelsea Hold Talks With Agent Of La Liga Ace Over Possible Big-Money Move

Arsenal and Chelsea have made contact with the agent of a La Liga midfielder to discuss a potential big-money move to England.

Managers are now planning ahead to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea are linked with Isco…

Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs who’ve contacted Isco’s agent about a potential move away from Real Madrid, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Isco was heralded as a star for the future when he joined Madrid from Malaga in 2013 in a deal worth over £25m but the midfielder has struggled to establish himself during his time at the Bernabeu.

After failing to force his way in to Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven on a regular basis last season, the 24-year-old was hotly tipped to secure a transfer away in the summer with a host of clubs throughout Europe strongly linked.

A move failed to materialise in the end and Isco was forced to remain at Madrid but he’s continued to struggle for game-time this campaign and has only recently found his way in to Zidane’s plans after Toni Kroos got injured.

The Spanish international has put in some impressive performances but his long-term future at Madrid remains unclear and Isco conceded earlier in the season that he’d seek a move next summer if his situation didn’t improve.

He’s quoted as saying by talkSPORT:

“If I’ve still only made a few appearances by the end of the season, I’ll look elsewhere.

“At 24 years of age I have to right to better myself.”

We’ll have to see how Isco’s situation progresses over the coming months but it seems he’ll have plenty of offers to come to the Premier League if he does decide to look for a new challenge at the end of the season.

That’s because the Daily Star are citing reports coming out of Spain from outlet Dario Gol that claim Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs who’ve already been in touch with Isco’s agent about a potential switch to England.

Arsenal have flexed their financial muscle in recent transfer windows with Arsene Wenger splashing out big money on the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi so the Gunners should have no problem competing for Isco if he comes on the market.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly been a long-term fan of the player and with Santi Cazorla crippled with a long-standing Achilles injury, perhaps the Arsenal boss is eyeing Isco as a possible long-term replacement.

However, Chelsea will provide stiff competition as the Blues have huge financial resources themselves and Isco would be an excellent addition to Antonio Conte’s squad if the Blues were able to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

In fact, I think Isco would be a superb signing for either Arsenal or Chelsea but they will need to be prepared to dig deep as I can’t see Madrid selling the midfielder on the cheap if they do agree to cash-in next summer.

It is hard to believe either one of these teams would pay a lot of money for Isco. The Spaniard is a good player, a very good player, but he does not score goals and he is a ‘tweener. He’s not overly physical for a central midfielder, but lacks the lightning pace you would want in a player o play the #10 role for Arsenal or to occupy the attacking role in the middle of the 4 midfield set for Chelsea.

For Arsenal Ozil isn’t going anywhere in the #10 role and in the central midfield role the Gunners have Ramsey, Wilshire, Xhaka, and Oxlade Chamberlain as well as two or three youth players who could fill that role. Jon toral and Gedion Zelalem both some to mind along with Jeff Reine Adelaide.

For Chelsea the front three look very settled with Hazard, Costa, and the tag-team of Pedro and Willian. wilian can also play in them iddle of the 4 man midfield. Chelsea also have Oscar, Fabregas, and Willian for that role to compliment N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic. Which of those players would be replaced by Isco?

A more needy Premier club is Manchester United, where Mourinho seems intent on buying every expensive midfielder he can so he can sit them on the bench. Isco is better than most of the players Mourinho has though not as defensive minded as The Unlucky One would like.
