Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a swoop for Bournemouth’s £15m-rated striker Josh King as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his attacking options this summer, according to the Mirror.
While Spurs continue to hunt down Chelsea in the title race, Sunday’s win over Arsenal ensures they’ll be playing in the Champions League next season and Pochettino knows he’ll need to add to his squad in order to compete on all fronts.
Harry Kane has shouldered much of the goal-scoring burden this season with Vincent Janssen struggling to adapt to life in England following his move from AZ Alkmaar last summer so a new striker is on the agenda.
The Mirror claim that Pochettino has now added Josh King to his short-list of targets after watching the Bournemouth hitman score 15 goals in his 29 Premier League starts this season.
The Norwegian striker moved to the Vitality Stadium from Blackburn in 2015 but has really found his form since the turn of this year with the 25-year-old netting 13 goals in his last 17 games.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe admitted last week that he was expecting a number of clubs to be looking at King following his superb recent form in front of goal.
Howe is quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“I’m sure there’s people taking notice [of King] and writing his name down. His form has been very good.”
King is contracted to Bournemouth until 2020 so they are under no immediate need to cash-in but the Mirror claim the South Coast club may be tempted if a fee of at least £15m is put on the table this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Tottenham agree to meet that kind of asking price but it seems a reasonable fee considering King’s potential and the fact he has plenty of Premier League experience.

Spurs aren’t going to find a striker better than Kane so all they need is a reliable hitman who can support the England international and lead the line when he needs a rest, and I think King would be a decent buy for the north Londoners.
