Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham and Everton are linked with Harry Maguire….
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle-it-out with Everton over a potential £22m deal to sign Hull City centre-back Harry Maguire this summer, according to the Mirror.
Maguire joined Hull from boyhood club Sheffield United in 2014 and after spending time out on loan with Wigan Athletic, the defender has now firmly established himself at the KCOM Stadium.
The 24-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers last season and put in some impressive performances but he wasn’t able to prevent Hull from dropping back down to the Championship.
Maguire admitted earlier this month that he’d settle his future at the end of the season and the Mirror claim the centre-back has now decided he wants to remain in the Premier League, so a move is on the cards.
It looks like the England Under-21 international is in high demand as the newspaper says Tottenham and Everton are set to battle-it-out over Maguire’s signature with both clubs hoping to wrap-up a deal as soon as the window opens.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be active in the market this summer as he needs to strengthen ahead of Tottenham’s return to the Champions League and the Mirror claim scouts have recommended Maguire to the Spurs boss.
Kevin Wimmer has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane following his move from Cologne in 2015 so Maguire is being lined-up as a potential replacement for the 24-year-old Austrian.
The report indicates that Hull are demanding £22m for the defender and Maguire is understood to be attracted by the prospect of playing in the Champions League with Tottenham.
However, with Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier all vying for starting spots at the back, Maguire knows he’s more likely to get regular first team football at Everton.
Ronald Koeman is also in the market for a new centre-back and with the Toffees being able to offer Europa League football, the Merseysiders will provide stiff competition to Spurs for Maguire’s signature.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I like the look of Maguire and think he’d be a solid players for either Tottenham or Everton, so it will be interesting to see if either club can get a deal agreed.
