Striker Convinced To Join Man Utd During Call With Mourinho As Reds Table £60m Bid
Alvaro Morata have been convinced to join Man Utd following a call with Jose Mourinho and the striker will now discuss a £60m move with Real Madrid officials
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd step up their interest in Alvaro Morata…
Alvaro Morata have been convinced to join Manchester United following a call with Jose Mourinho and the striker will now discuss a £60m move with Real Madrid officials on Monday, according to a report in the Express.
Mourinho is n the market for a top class striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic while Wayne Rooney is also expected to leave the club this summer and Morata has emerged as a prime target in recent days.
The Red Devils have seemingly turned their attention to the Spanish international after missing out on Antonie Griezmann and Sky Sports News reported last week that United had seen their opening £52.4m offer rejected by Madrid.
It looks like the Manchester giants have returned with a fresh offer as the Express claim that United have now submitted a fresh £60m offer that Madrid are due to discuss with Morata tomorrow.
While the Champions League holders value the striker at nearer £80m the Express are citing a report coming from Spanish outlet Marca that claims Morata has now decided to join United following a personal phonecall with Mourinho.
The report says the ‘Special One’ spoke directly with the 24-year-old and reassured him he’ll be a key part of his team next season and Morata is now ready to inform Madrid at a meeting on Monday that he wants to join United and their £60m offer will be mulled over by the La Liga giants.
The Express also say that United stars Ander Herrera and David De Gea have spoken with Morata while away on international duty this week and told him what life is like at Old Trafford.
Mourinho knows Morata well from their time together at Madrid and it was the Portuguese coach who gave the striker his full debut so he obviously rates him very highly.
Morata only rejoined Madrid last summer following a successful spell at Juventus but he’s struggled to hold down a regular first team place with the likes of Kraim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, despite starting just 16 games in all competitions last season, Morata still managed to score 20 goals so he’d certainly provide a much-needed threat in front of goal if he does end up joining United.

We’ll have to wait and see how talks go tomorrow but it looks like Morata is keen to join United in search of more regular football and I think he’d be a superb addition to Mourinho’s squad.
