Man Utd Hoping To Sign £60m Striker This Week As Agent Holds Crunch Talks
Manchester United are hoping to secure a £60m deal to sign Alvaro Morata with the strikers agent holding talks with Real Madrid over the move today
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd close-in on Alvaro Morata…
Manchester United are hoping to secure a £60m deal to sign Alvaro Morata with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez expected to make a firm decision by the end of the week, according to a report in the Express.
Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for a busy summer in the transfer market as he looks to build a title-winning squad and the United boss is desperate to strengthen his attack after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Morata has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks with the strikers agent, Juanma Lopez, quoted by the Mirror as saying earlier this week that a ‘very interesting’ offer was on the table from United.
Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Lopez arrived at the Bernabeu late this afternoon to hold crunch talks with Madrid officials and to try and push through a move to Old Trafford.
The news report suggests Madrid are demanding close to £80m for Morata’s signature but it’s understood United have so far refused to pay more than £60m so it all comes down to whether the La Liga giants are willing to cut a deal.
The Express are now citing a report from Diario Gol that claims Madrid president Perez is expected to make a final decision over the proposed deal by the end of the week as Morata is getting married this weekend and he wants his future resolved before he jets-off to Venice.
Therefore, we should expect to hear more news over the next 48 hours as Mourinho looks to close-in on his second major signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
Morata rejoined Madrid from Juventus last summer but struggled to hold down a regular place with the striker making just 16 starts in all competitions last season.
With a World Cup coming up next summer, the 24-year-old is keen to secure more regular first team football and it looks as though Mourinho is ready to offer him a key role at Old Trafford next year.
Despite his lack of playing time at the Bernabeu, Morata still managed to score 20 goals last season so he’d certainly bring with him a much-needed goal threat if he does end up joining United this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming hours but I think United will get a deal agreed in the end and Morata is going to be a superb addition to Mourinho’s squad.
