Manchester United are plotting another swoop on Benfica as Jose Mourinho eyes £15m-rated attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca, according to the Mirror.
United recently snapped-up centre-back Victor Lindelof from Benfica but it looks as though they are ready to raid the Portuguese club again as Mourinho tries to strengthen his attacking options.
The ‘Special One’ knows he needs to add more goals and creativity to his squad if they are to compete in the Premier League and Champions League next season and it appears Talisca is now on his radar.
The 23-year-old joined Benfica from Brazilian outfit Bahia in 2014 for just £3.5m and developed in to one of the most exciting young midfielders in Portugal before joining Besiktas on loan last summer.
Talisca – full name Anderson Souza Conceicao – was a huge success in Turkey as he scored 17 goals and provided a further 6 assists in his 33 appearances to help Besiktas win the title.
It appears his form has caught the eye of Mourinho as the Brazilian U23 international is quoted by the Mirror as saying recently that the United boss is a fan and suggested a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.
“I’ve had a good season, and Mourinho has a love [for me] that exists, I will not lie.
“It’s a dream, something that all players want. As I said, his love is old and I like his work. He’s a great coach and I hope everything works out.”
“I can’t talk about Manchester United. It’s not just up to me. It’s up to Benfica, my representatives, who are dealing with the situation. Soon, they’ll have news.”
The Mirror claim that United are ready to launch a £15m swoop to sign Talisca this summer and judging by the players comments above, he’d jump at the chance to work with Mourinho.
The South American is predominantly a central attacking midfielder but he’s capable of playing as a second striker so Talisca could be viewed as a potential replacement for Wayne Rooney.
