Journalist Emanuele Giulianelli claims Monaco midfielder Fabinho will join Manchester United ‘soon’ as Jose Mourinho closes-in on his second signing of the summer, according to a report in the Express.
Mourinho is gearing-up for a busy few months as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League next season.
The ‘Special One’ has already strengthened his defence with the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica last week but a central midfielder to act as a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick is also needed.
Fabinho has been touted as a prime target in recent weeks with the Telegraph citing reports from Marca earlier this month that claimed United were in advanced talks to secure a deal for the £50m-rated star.
It seems the deal is now on the verge of completion as the Express are quoting journalist Emanuele Giulianelli as saying that Fabinho will ‘soon’ complete this move to United.
“Fabinho will be a Manchester United player soon, I don’t believe in the rumors that tell different things. Let’s see.”
We’ll have to wait and see whether Giulianelli’s claim will come true but Fabinho would be a superb signing if United could get a deal agreed for the 23-year-old this summer.
The Brazilian international made his name as a right-back but was a revelation after being converted in to a holding midfielder last season as he played a key role in helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title.

The South American would form a devastating midfield alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba while he’d also be able to provide competition for Antonio Valencia at right-back so his versatility would be a useful asset for Mourinho.
