Attacker Set For Talks Amid £44m Man Utd Move Reports

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Ivan Perisic…
Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has admitted he’ll hold talks with Ivan Perisic about his future as the attacker continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
Spalletti was appointed as the new Inter boss in May following the departure of Stefano Pioli and it seems resolving the future of Perisic is one of the the Italian coaches top priorities.
The Croatian international moved to the San Siro from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has just come of the back of an excellent campaign having scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions.
That kind of form has caught the eye of Man Utd and the Express reported last month that Inter were holding out for £44m after rejecting the Red Devil’s improved offer of £35m.
The Manchester Evening News then claimed that Perisic was already planning for life at Old Trafford as he expected to complete his move to United over the coming weeks.
However, Sky Sports say that while United remain keen to sign the 28-year-old, Inter haven’t given up hope of keeping hold of Perisic and Spalletti now plans to hold talks with the winger to resolve his future.
Spalletti is quoted by Sky Sports as saying:
“I will speak to everyone and, of course, for those who are ‘distracted’ there will be different words,”
“I will listen to him (Perisic). I’m counting on him but we’ll have to understand his intentions. It would not be nice for me to hear him say words like ‘I want to leave’. We’ll see.
“You keep talking about Perisic and his desire to leave but I need to listen to his own words first and then decide how to act.
“In any case, I will say this: we are Inter and we can choose to make different decisions to the ideas of the players. I hope to have him in the side, I am counting on it and I am positive in that sense.”
Perisic still has three years remaining on his contract so Inter are under no pressure to sell but it will be hard to force the player to stay against his will if he makes it clear he wants to leave.
Jose Mourinho has already signed centre-back Victor Lindelof and is on the verge of snapping-up striker Romelu Lukaku but he needs to further strengthen his squad if United are to be considered challengers next season.

I think Perisic would be an excellent signing as he’s a versatile attacker who can play practically anywhere in the final third and his hard-working attitude is exactly what Mourinho is looking for.
