Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd step-up their interest in Serge Aurier…
Manchester United have stolen a march on Tottenham Hotspur after holding talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the possible signing of Serge Aurier, according to a report in The Sun.
Aurier joined PSG from Toulouse in 2015 touted as one of the most exciting full-backs in Europe but he’s endured mixed fortune during his time at the club and started just 21 Ligue 1 games last season.
The 24-year-old has constantly been tipped for a move to the Premier League and The Sun are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims he informed boss Unai Emery at the end of last season that he wanted a new challenge this summer.
Aurier’s future at the Parc des Princes has been cast in further doubt following the arrival of Dani Alves from Juventus and it seems he could now finally be set for a move to England.
The Sun claim that Tottenham have express an interest in signing Aurier as Mauricio Pochettino looks to find a replacement for Kyle Walker – who’s on the verge of joining Man City after they met his £50m asking price [via the The Independent].
Spurs were reluctant to sell the England international but it seems City have submitted an offer too good to be true so Walker is heading to Manchester with Aurier short-listed as the man to fill his boots.
However, it looks like Man Utd have stolen a march on Tottenham as The Sun report says they’ve now made contact with PSG to discuss a potential deal to sign Aurier this summer.
Jose Mourinho has already splashed out big money to sign Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku but the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen if they’re to compete for major honours next season.
A long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia is needed and Matteo Darmian has failed to hold down a regular spot under Mourinho so Aurier could be the answer to his problems.

The Ivory Coast international has all the makings of a top right-back so I think he’d be a superb signing for United, or indeed Tottenham, but we’ll have to wait and see whether either club are able to get a deal agreed over the coming weeks.
