Chelsea Keen To Pull Off Audacious Swoop For South American Hitman

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are showing a serious interest in signing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero this summer.

Antonio Conte is desperately trying to land a top class striker to replace Diego Costa after telling the Brazilian-born hitman he’s no longer got a future at the club.

The Blues have been linked with a whole host of players in recent weeks after missing out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United but it appears Conte now has an ambitious target in mind.

That’s because Sky Sports claim their sources have informed them that Chelsea have a ‘serious and strong interest’ in pulling off an audacious swoop to sign Aguero this summer.

However, the news outlet does concede that any potential deal with Manchester City is going to be extremely difficult due to their reluctance to sell the striker.

Aguero has been a superb signing for City since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and he still has three years left on his deal so the Citizens are under no pressure to cash-in.

But the Argentinean international could push for a move as there are doubts over whether he fits in to Pep Guardiola’s system and he lost his place to Jesus Gabriel last season before the Brazilian got injured.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but while I think Aguero would be an excellent signing for Chelsea, I doubt City will agree to sell to a rival if they do let the South American leave this summer so Conte’s search for a new striker is set to continue.
