Arsenal remain confident Thomas Lemar wants to join the club with Arsene Wenger prepared to pay at least £45m to sign the Monaco attacker this summer, according to a report in The Sun.
The boss is looking to further strengthen his squad and another attacker seems to be on the agenda having already signed striker Alexandre Lacazette and defender Sead Kolasinac.
Lemar has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks and Wenger admitted at his press conference last week that the French international was firmly on his radar.
Monaco have proven difficult to deal with as The Sun claim the Ligue 1 champions have already rejected two offers from Arsenal and slapped a huge £80m price-tag on his head to deter further interest.
However, the newspaper is citing a report from the Mirror that suggests Arsenal remain determined to land Lemar and are confident the player still wants to make the move to north London this summer.
It’s indicated in the report that Arsenal are hopeful a deal can eventually be agreed and are prepared to pay at least £45m for the 21-year-old but Wenger may be willing to go even higher once he sells some of his fringe players.
The likes of Kieran Gibbs, Lucas Perez, Calum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson and Jack Wilshere are all expected to depart this summer which will provide the boss with extra funds to strengthen his squad with.
We’ll have to be patient to see how things play out but Lemar would be a sensational signing if we could get a deal agreed as the French international has developed in to one of the most exciting attackers in Europe.

He played a key role in helping Monaco win the title last season after scoring 14 goals and setting up a further 17 for his team mates so he’d certainly offer some real creativity to the squad if we can successfully lure him to the Emirates.
