Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed £43m-rated midfielder Renato Sanches could be heading to Manchester United this summer, according to quotes in the Express.
Sanches was a product of the Benfica youth system and became one of the most exciting young talents in European football after breaking in to their first team set-up in 2015.
The youngster attracted interest from a number of top clubs, including Manchester United, but he snubbed a move to Old Trafford in favour of joining Bayern last summer.
However, the 19-year-old’s time at the Allianz Arena hasn’t gone according to plan as Sanches struggled to hold down a first team place under Ancelotti last season with the midfielder making just 6 Bundesliga starts.
The Portuguese international is now being tipped for a move this summer in search of more regular action ahead of the 2018 World Cup and it seems he could finally be heading for United.
Speculation in recent days has suggested the Red Devils are looking to sign Sanches, either on loan or a permanent deal, and Ancelotti has now confirmed a deal could be on the cards.
When asked about United’s interest in Sanches, Ancelotti is quoted as saying by the Express:
“At this time, he’s training with us. We have to make a decision. A move [to United] could be a possibility but there is also a chance he could stay with us for the season.”
The Italian manager’s comments come shortly after Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted they are willing to let Sanches leave if an offer of £43m was put on the table.
Rummenigge is quoted by the Express as saying:
“He won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,” he said.
“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures. We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a £43million offer came in for him.”
Jose Mourinho is growing increasingly frustrated with United’s lack of movement in the transfer market this summer as the club have so far only agreed deals to sign Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof.

A central midfielder is desperately needed as Michael Carrick is about to turn 36 so a long-term replacement is required and I think Sanches would be an excellent signing if United could pull it off.
