Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Gareth Bale….
Real Madrid are ready to cash-in on Gareth Bale but Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho would prefer to wait until next summer to secure a £90m deal, according to the Express.
Bale has continued to forge a reputation as one of the best attackers in Europe since making a then world record £86m move to Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 having snubbed interest from United.
The Welsh international has scored 67 goals and provided a further 51 assists in 149 appearances to help the Spanish giants win three Champions League trophies and one La Liga title during his four years at the club.
However, Bale’s future at the Bernabeu has been cast in doubt in recent weeks as speculation is growing that Madrid may look to sacrifice the former Spurs man in order to fund their world record swoop for Kylian Mbappe.
The Express claim that Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is willing to cash-in on Bale and suggest that player could be open to a move as he’s reportedly unhappy at dropping down the pecking order and his place will be under greater pressure if/when Mbappe arrives.
United have long been linked with a move for the 28-year-old and the newspaper says a switch to Old Trafford could be on the cards this summer but Mourinho would prefer to wait 12 months before launching a £90m swoop.
Mourinho has made it clear he’d like to add another attacker to his squad after being strongly linked with a move for Ivan Perisic but the Express say he’s planning for the future and Bale is a top target for the 2018 window.
However, should the Welshman be made available for transfer over the coming weeks, then the report indicates Mourinho will be tempted to bring forward his plans to this summer.
It’s an intriguing situation as you’d assume Madrid will have to sell one of their ‘big 3’ forwards to make room for Mbappe and Bale seems to be the most likely given his injury problems over the past year.

I personally don’t think United would pass up the opportunity to finally sign him and they are one of the few clubs who could realistically afford to pull off a deal so it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the coming month.
