Mourinho Demands £100m Bid + £500k-A-Week Deal To Sign La Liga Super-Star
Jose Mourinho is urging Manchester United chiefs to launch a £100m bid to sign Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale this summer, according to The Sun.
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are once again linked with Gareth Bale….
Jose Mourinho is urging Manchester United chiefs to launch a £100m bid to sign Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale this summer, according to The Sun.
Bale’s future at the Bernabeu has been the subject of much debate with the Express reporting last week that Zinedine Zidane may be ready to cash-in on the attacker in order to help fund their swoop for Kylian Mbappe.
Madrid are favourites to sign the Monaco sensation and Bale is being put forward as the man most likely to be sacrificed to make room for the teenage French international due to concerns over his fitness.
The 28-year-old endured a frustrating campaign last season as injury restricted him to making just 26 starts and he was benched for the Champions League final win over Juventus.
Despite question marks over his future, Bale appeared to dismiss the idea of leaving Madrid this summer even if Mbappe does arrive from Monaco before the end of the month.
He’s quoted by The Sun as saying after their 2-1 Super Cup win over United on Tuesday:
“I’m happy to fight for my place. We’re all fighting for our places anyway.
“It’s nothing new in football, it happens at every club, you just carry on like normal.
“Everything has gone as normal like it has every year, there’s been the normal speculation like there is every year.”
Mourinho admitted before the game he would be interested in signing Bale if Madrid made it clear he was available but the United boss declared it was ‘game over’ after the Welsh international was named in the starting eleven.
However, The Sun claim that privately Mourinho still feels a deal can be reached as he’s been informed that Madrid are ready to do business as long as they are given enough time to find a replacement.
The newspaper says Mourinho is now urging executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to launch a £100m bid after high level talks were held between club bosses this week.
Even if a deal could be agreed with Madrid, United would still need to convince Bale to leave the European Champions and The Sun claim Mourinho hopes to lure him to Old Trafford with the promise of a huge £500,000-a-week contract.

We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of this but obviously it would be a major coup if United could land Bale as he’s one of the best attackers in European football.
Despite suffering from some injury problems, the Welshman has still scored 67 goals and provided 51 assists in 149 games to help Madrid win 3 Champions League’s and a La Liga title during his four years in Spain.
