Manchester United’s 100% start to the new season came to an end after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium this evening.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 43rd minute as Maxim Choupo-Moting fired home from close range following an excellent cross from Mame Biram Diouf.
The Potters lead didn’t last long as United levelled things up just three minutes later when Paul Pogba’s goal-bound header deflected off Marcus Rashford and in to the net for 1-1.
United then took the lead in the 57th minute when Romelu Lukaku fired home at the second time of asking but Stoke equalised shortly after Choupo-Moting headed home from a corner in the 63rd minute.
Neither side could find a winner so it ended 2-2 meaning United’s perfect start to the season comes to an end – although they do still move back to the top of the table on goal difference from Man City.
