Man Utd Team News: Mourinho Confirms Trio Will Miss CSKA Moscow Clash
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he’ll be without three midfielders for Manchester United’s Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow.
Manchester United will look to make it two wins from their opening two Champions League games when they take on CSKA Moscow in Russia tomorrow night.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered a team news and injury update.
The United boss has confirmed his options in midfield are limited as he’ll be without the services of Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick and Paul Pogba tomorrow night.
Fellaini didn’t travel to Russia after suffering an ankle injury during United’s 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Belgian international was on the wrong end of a lunge from Shane Long just before half-time but he was able to complete the ninety minutes after receiving treatment from the medical team.
However, Mourinho has confirmed that Fellaini will now miss the next two games against CSKA and Crystal Palace this weekend but says the midfielder is fortunate as it could have been a lot worse.
The United boss also revealed that Carrick hasn’t made the trip to Russia while he is still not putting a firm date on Pogba’s return from a hamstring injury.
The French international has missed the last three games since suffering a hamstring injury against Basel earlier this month and Mourinho refused to speculate on suggestions Pogba will be forced to undergo an operation.
The United boss told reporters:

With Pogba, Fellaini and Carrick all ruled out it looks like Ander Herrera will get a recall to start alongside Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park tomorrow night.
United go in to the game having beaten Basel 3-0 in their group stage opener so they’ll be well positioned to qualify if they can bring home another three points from Russia.
