Mourinho Hoping Man Utd Super-Star Will Make Injury Comeback Against Arsenal
Jose Mourinho is hoping Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available for Manchester United’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal in early December
Jose Mourinho is hoping Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available for Manchester United’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal in early December, according to a report in the Mirror.
Ibrahimovic has been on the sidelines since suffering a serious ACL knee injury during United’s Europa League quarter-final win over Anderlecht back in April.
The injury was so severe that there were initially fears over the 35-year-old’s career but the striker insisted he would make a full recovery despite being ruled out for at least nine months.
However, the Swedish legend has been making excellent progress with his rehabilitation which persuaded United chiefs to hand the striker a new one-year contract in August.
Ibrahimovic has astonished United’s medical experts with the speed of his recovery and it looks like he’s now set to make a swift return to the playing field.
The Mirror are reporting that Ibrahimovic could be back in training as early as next month and Mourinho is hoping to have the striker available for United’s showdown with Arsenal at the Emirates on December 2nd.
The ageing striker recently revealed that he’s feeling good and is confident he’ll return even better than before his injury. Ibrahimovic is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“I feel good, I have trained every day since I had my knee operated on, there is no vacation. It’s a new challenge but I am strong mentally and when I focus on an objective nothing can stop me.
“I will go through everything, it doesn’t matter what’s in my way, I will break everything to reach my goal.
“When I come back to play football on the field I will be better than before, I am not coming back because I am the one I am, I am coming back to be a better version of the old one. Imagine how that will be!”
It would be truly remarkable if the Swede was in the United squad for their trip to north London and Ibrahimovic’s early return will come as a huge boost to the Red Devils as they look to build on an excellent start to the new campaign.
Summer signing Romelu Lukaku has enjoyed a superb start to life at Old Trafford but Mourinho admitted he can’t rest the Belgian until Ibrahimovic is available again so news of his early return will come as a big relief.
