[Video Highlights] Man Utd 1-0 Tottenham: Martial Nets Late Winner For United

Anthony Martial came off the bench to score a late winner as Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Old Trafford this afternoon.

It was an extremely tight first half with neither side giving much away as United dominated possession but were struggling to break down a stubborn Spurs defence.

United continued to push for the breakthrough in the second half with Romelu Lukaku hitting the base of the post with a header while Dele Alli also missed a great chance to open the scoring for Tottenham.

However, with just under ten minutes remaining, Lukaku flicked on for substitute Martial to outpace Eric Dier and slot past the on-rushing Hugo Lloris to make it 1-0 in the 81st minute.

It was proper route one football but it was effective as United cut right through Spurs and it turned out to be the winner as the north Londoners failed to find a way back in to the game so the hosts eased to a 1-0 victory.

The result sees United move to within two points of Man City ahead of their trip to West Brom while Tottenham remain third but are now three points adrift of United.
