Liverpool take on Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield this evening. Here is a preview with the latest team news, line-ups and prediction
Liverpool will be hoping to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they entertain Everton at Anfield this evening.
The Reds enjoyed a productive festive period having taken 10 points from their four Premier League games over the past two weeks with the latest a 2-1 win at Burnley on Monday night.
It’s left Liverpool sitting three points clear in fourth position in the table so they are on course to finishing in the top four again but Jurgen Klopp will be focussed on FA Cup matters this evening.
Everton make the short trip to Anfield having taken just two points from their last four games so Sam Allardyce will be desperate to get back to winning ways or risk spoiling what has been an encouraging start to life at Goodison.
This will be the second time in a month that the two Merseyside clubs have met after Everton somehow snatched a 1-1 draw in December despite Liverpool dominating the game.
Team news
Liverpool will be without top scorer Mohamed Salah as he’s been ruled out with a groin injury while Philippe Coutinho has also been ruled out with a thigh injury amid on-going speculation linking him with Barcelona.
Jordan Henderson is also out with a hamstring problem, Alberto Moreno is still recovering from an ankle injury while Daniel Sturridge remains a major doubt with a muscle issue.
Klopp is expected to rotate his squad with the likes of Loris Karius, Andrew Robertson, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino set for recalls while Virgil van Dijk could make his debut.
Everton will be without Ross Barkley as the midfielder is set to join Chelsea and Leighton Baines, Ramiro Funes Mori and Seamus Coleman remain on the sidelines.
Expected line-ups
Predicted Score
Liverpool 2-1 Everton: The Reds are unbeaten in their last 15 games in all competitions and bossed Everton in the league game last month. Obviously it makes life harder for Klopp to be without Coutinho and Salah but I still think Liverpool will have enough to win this game.
