Club Ready To Sell After Man Utd Table Huge Offer For La Liga Midfielder
Manchester United have tabled a huge offer to sign Marco Asensio and Real Madrid chiefs are ready to cash-in on the Spanish midfielder this month
The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Man Utd have made a move to sign Marco Asensio…
Manchester United have tabled a huge offer to sign Marco Asensio and Real Madrid chiefs are ready to cash-in on the Spanish midfielder this month, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Asensio joined Madrid from Mallorca for just £3m in 2014 and he’s developed in to one of the most highly-rated young attackers in European football over the past few years.
However, the 21-year-old has struggled to nail down a place in Zinedine Zidane’s first choice eleven as he’s only started 9 La Liga games and 1 Champions League game so far this campaign.
The Spanish international has still managed to chip in with 7 goals and 3 assists but the lack of first team football will be a concern, particularly as it’s a World Cup year.
It seems the Red Devils have now launched an audacious swoop for Asensio as Team Talk are citing reports coming out of Spain that claim United have submitted a ‘huge’ offer for his signature.
The report doesn’t specify exactly how much United have put on the table but given Asensio’s contract runs until 2023 and has a £443m release clause written in to it, it’s safe to assume it would take a sizeable fee to tempt Madrid in to a sale.
Jose Mourinho knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they’re to catch Manchester City and a player of Asensio’s quality would be a superb addition to the squad if they could get a deal agreed.
The youngster is predominantly played on the left wing but he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d provide Mourinho with plenty of options in the final third.

Surprisingly, Team Talk say that both Real boss Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez are willing to cash in on Asensio if the money is right so it seems United could pull off a major coup if they are willing to pay what’s required to land the midfielder.
