Liverpool Agree Personal Terms With Attacker As Klopp Eyes £75m Deal
Liverpool are hoping to secure a £75m deal to sign Thomas Lemar after agreeing personal terms with the Monaco attacker over a possible January move
The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on Liverpool’s pursuit of Thomas Lemar…
Liverpool are hoping to secure a £75m deal to sign Thomas Lemar after agreeing personal terms with the Monaco attacker over a possible January move, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Lemar became one of the most sought after young talents in Europe after scoring 14 goals as well as providing 17 assists to help Monaco land the Ligue 1 title last season.
The 22-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool during the summer transfer window but neither club could agree terms over a deal so Lemar ended up staying in the south of France.
Arsenal’s interest in the attacker has cooled after they signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a straight swap deal for Alexis Sanchez but Liverpool are continuing to pursue the French international.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for attacking reinforcements after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and Lemar is reportedly still a prime target for the German coach.
It looks like Liverpool have stepped-up their interest as TeamTalk are now citing a report from Yahoo Sports that claims the Reds have agreed personal terms with Lemar over a possible January move to Anfield.
The report says Klopp was hoping to land the youngster for a fee in the region of £75m but Monaco are still holding out for closer to £88m which has put any proposed deal in jeopardy.
TeamTalk say Klopp is now ready to put the transfer on hold until the summer when he hopes Monaco will be more willing to lower their valuation as the Ligue 1 club are reluctant to do business in January.

However, that could be a risky strategy as not only could other clubs enter the bidding to rival Liverpool but Lemar’s price-tag could increase further if he impresses at this summers World Cup finals.
