The summer transfer window is about to open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Willian…
Manchester United have opened talks with Willian’s representatives to discuss a potential move from Chelsea to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News via TeamTalk.
Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for another busy summer in the transfer market as he knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they’re to compete with the likes of Manchester City next season.
United have been linked with a number of different players in recent weeks but new right-winger is seemingly on the agenda and it looks like Mourinho has renewed his interest in signing Willian.
The Portuguese coach took Willian to Chelsea back in 2013 and has been linked with a move for the South American ever since he took over the reigns at Old Trafford two years ago.
Speculation last summer claimed United had tried to sign Willian and the player admitted earlier in the season that he was approached by the Red Devils but ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.
He’s quoted as saying by TeamTalk:
“I had contact with Manchester United but I was not close to leaving,”
“Of course, sometimes you get upset that you’re not playing, but that doesn’t mean you do not like the club or the people who work there.”
However, it looks like Mourinho isn’t giving up as TeamTalk are citing a report from the M.E.N that claims United have once again opened talks with Willian’s representatives about a potential move this summer.
The Brazilian international started just 20 Premier League games last season leading to speculation he may look for a fresh start this summer so a move to play under Mourinho at United could be tempting.
But despite his bit-part role at Chelsea, Willian was still one of the clubs most productive players having provided 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions so no doubt they’ll be reluctant to lose him.
