Team News Update: Arsenal Trio Back In Full Training But Duo Could Miss Leicester
Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are all back in training but Sokratis and Petr Cech remain doubts for Arsenal’s clash with Leicester.
Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are all back in full training but Sokratis and Petr Cech remain doubts for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Leicester City.
Welbeck was forced to withdraw from the England squad ahead of their double-header with Croatia and Spain due to a hamstring injury but thankfully it was nothing serious and the attacker is available to face the Foxes after returning to full training this week.
Ozil missed Arsenal’s impressive 5-1 victory over Fulham before the international break after picking up a back issue following our Europa League trip to Qarabag earlier this month but the playmaker has made a swift recover and is also in contention against Leicester on Monday night.
Maitland-Niles hasn’t featured for the first team since suffering a fractured leg against Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new season but the versatile midfielder has returned to training ahead of schedule and could be in the squad against Leicester.
However, Sokratis will need to be assessed ahead of the game after returning from international duty carrying an ankle injury. The defender suffered the problem during Greece’s 2-1 defeat to Finland earlier this week and is now a doubt for the visit of Leicester to the Emirates.
Cech has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury against Watford at the end of September and the 36-year-old will need to be checked over by the medical team before his availability on Monday is determined.
It looks like Dinos Mavropanos has suffered a setback as the defender was originally expected to return to training at the end of this month following a groin injury but the latest update says he’s now not due back in training until November.
The final update surrounds Laurent Koscielny and the Frenchman is on course to return to full training in November having stepped-up his recovery from an Achilles injury. The defender has been snapped taking part in some aspects of training with the rest of the squad this week but he won’t be in full training until next month.

It would be a big blow if Sokratis was to miss the Leicester game as he’s been a key player for us since joining the club in the summer and his absence would leave Unai Emery relying on just Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi in the middle of defence.
