Tottenham will be desperate to keep their Champions League hopes alive when they welcome Inter Milan to Wembley on Wednesday night. Here is the side we think Mauricio Pochettino will select for the game:
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris is back in contention after serving his European ban against PSV Eindhoven so the Frenchman should keep his place after starting during the win over Chelsea at the weekend. Paulo Gazzaniga is expected to keep his place on the bench ahead of Michel Vorm.
Defence: Jan Vertonghen returned to the bench on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring injury and Pochettino says the Belgian international is available to start tomorrow night. Juan Foyth has been impressing but the youngster is ineligible to play in the Champions League so with Davinson Sanchez out through injury, Vertonghen could be recalled alongside Toby Alderweireld.
Kieran Trippier is close to recovering from a groin injury but for now he remains on the sidelines so Serge Aurier will continue at right-back. Danny Rose has returned to full training but Pochettino may be reluctant to throw him straight back in to first team action so Ben Davies may keep his place on the left.
Midfield: Mousa Dembele is back in north London to continue his rehabilitation from an ankle injury following a stint in Qatar but he’s not expected to be available until the New Year while Victor Wanyama is also on the sidelines after aggravating a knee injury.
Moussa Sissoko has been impressing in recent games so he’ll hope to retain his place but Harry Winks has featured heavily in Europe this season so the Englishman may get a recall against Inter with Sissoko making way.
Eric Dier is likely to keep his place in the holding role once again while Christian Eriksen may be deployed in a deeper role if Pochettino goes with three in midfield.
Attack: Dele Alli is expected to keep his place in the attacking midfield role while Harry Kane is certain to lead the line up front and Tottenham will need their star man in lethal form in front of goal if they’re to get the win they need tomorrow night.
Heung-min Son was excellent against Chelsea at the weekend so he’ll be hoping to keep his place while Erik Lamela is pushing for a recall but I think Lucas Moura may be the man to start in the final attacking position.
Here is how I expect Spurs to line-up:
