Injury Update: Tottenham Trio Return To Full Training, 5 Players Miss Tranmere Trip
Here is the latest team news ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Tranmere at Prenton Park in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
Tottenham will be looking to avoid an upset when they take on Tranmere at Prenton Park in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
Ahead of the game, Tottenham have issued a full team news and injury update with the latest on the fitness of Mousa Dembele, Jan Vertonghen, Erik Lamela, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier.
The North Londoners have confirmed that Dembele has returned to full training with the rest of the squad today after overcoming an ankle injury that’s kept him on the sidelines for the past two months.
Vertonghen has also resumed full training after overcoming a niggling hamstring injury that’s hampered him for much of the season. However, tomorrow night’s trip to Tranmere will still come too soon for Vertonghen and Dembele so the duo will be hoping to prove their fitness ahead of next week’s League Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea.
Lamela is the third Tottenham player to return to training this week after he recovered from a calf injury but the Argentinean attacker will still miss the FA Cup third round tie with Tranmere due to illness.
Dier is close to making his return after having his appendix removed last as he’s commenced on-field rehab work but the midfielder remains on the sidelines along with Wanyama – who’s continuing his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
