Liverpool hold talks with £35m attacker as Klopp tries to lure star to Anfield
Liverpool have held talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi to try and persuade the Chelsea attacker to snub Bayern Munich in favour of a move to Anfield
The January transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Liverpool are linked with Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi….
Liverpool have held talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi and his agent to try and persuade the Chelsea attacker to snub Bayern Munich in favour of a move to Anfield, according to reports in Germany via Football365.
Hudson-Odoi came through the youth ranks at Chelsea after joining the club as a child and he’s considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in European football having already represented England at every youth level from U16 to U19.
However, the 18-year-old has still struggled to force his way in to Chelsea’s first team plans as he’s yet to make his full Premier League debut and has made just three substitute appearances under Maurizio Sarri this season.
It’s led to speculation that Hudson-Odoi is keen to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular first team football and he’s already rejected Chelsea’s offer of a lucrative new contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2020.
Chelsea haven’t given up hope of persuading the teenager to stay but they may be forced to cash-in if he doesn’t sign a new deal soon and Football365 claim Bayern Munich have tabled a £35m bid after seeing three previous offers rejected.
However, the report is citing Sport Bild as claiming that Liverpool have made an attempt to derail Bayern’s deal after holding talks with Hudson-Odoi and his brother – who’s also his agent – about a move to Anfield.
The German outlet says Liverpool chiefs met up with Hudson-Odoi and his agent earlier this month to convince him his future should be at Anfield and Bayern are now concerned the Merseysiders will beat them to his signature.
Liverpool have previously snapped-up Rhian Brewster and Dominic Solanke from Chelsea so it looks like the Reds are trying to raid their rivals for a third time with Hudson-Odoi in their sights.
However, it’s difficult to see how the youngster would get any more first team action at Liverpool than he would if he stayed at Chelsea as he’d be competing with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri for a place in Klopp’s attack.

Perhaps Hudson-Odoi may feel he has more chance of getting minutes under Klopp but I still don’t see him being a regular at Liverpool any time soon so I expect him to join Bayern if he does decide to leave Chelsea.
