25-year-old has heart set on joining Tottenham as Spurs hold talks over late deal

Michy Batshuayi has his heart set on joining Tottenham after the north Londoners opened talks about a late loan move for the Chelsea striker, according to Football London.

Batshuayi has spent the first half of the season on loan at Valencia but the move has turned in to a nightmare as the striker has scored just 1 La Liga goal in four starts and hasn’t been included in the matchday squad for their last three league games.

Chelsea are now looking to find a new home for the Belgian international for the second half of the campaign and Batshuayi has been strongly linked with West Ham and Real Betis in recent days.

Loan deals with the pair are reportedly agreed, however, Football London claim that Batshuayi has his heart set on joining Tottenham after they made a late move to express their interest in signing the 25-year-old.

Mauricio Pochettino desperately needs some back-up for Harry Kane after he was ruled out until March with an ankle injury and Tottenham are looking to offload Vincent Janssen to Schalke.

Batshuayi could be viewed as a short-term replacement and Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol is quoted by the Express as saying that talks have been held about the striker moving to north London on deadline day.

However, at this point, Solhekol says a deal looks unlikely as Tottenham are yet to follow-up their initial interest in the Chelsea hitman. During an update on Sky Sports News, Solhekol is quoted as saying by the Express:

“We understand Chelsea have agreed a loan deal in principle for him to go out to either West Ham or Real Betis,”

“Now, a big, big development as well in the last few minutes because we have been told that talks have also been held with Spurs about Michy Batshuayi moving on loan to Spurs.

“But we are being told that is not going to happen. Spurs have decided not to pursue signing Michy Batshuayi on loan.

“But the main development with Michy Batshuayi is that it looks like he’s going to go out on loan again. It looks like it could be West Ham or Real Betis.”

We’ll have to wait and see whether Tottenham decide to resurrect their interest in Batshuayi but time is running out and the striker can’t wait around for his ‘dream’ move so he may have to settle for West Ham or Betis.
