Chelsea eye swoop for £140m attacker after Liverpool see offer rejected
Liverpool could have competition for the signature of Lorenzo Insigne as Chelsea are now eyeing the £140m-rated Napoli attacker ahead of the summer.
The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Liverpool target Lorenzo Insigne….
It looks like Liverpool could have competition for the signature of Lorenzo Insigne as the Daily Mail claims Chelsea are now eyeing the £140m-rated Napoli attacker ahead of the summer.
Insigne has been one of the best forward players in Italian football since emerging from the youth ranks at Napoli and he’s continued his fine form this season having provided 11 goals and 6 assists in his 27 appearances so far.
The 27-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League with La Repubblica reporting earlier this week that Liverpool had seen an opening £61m offer for Insigne knocked back by Napoli.
Jurgen Klopp already has one of the most feared attacks in world football at his disposal but the Liverpool boss may be looking to add some depth behind the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino after crashing out during the early stages of both domestic cups this season.
Insigne is seemingly on Klopp’s radar, however, the Reds boss may face stiff competition as the Daily Mail says Chelsea have identified the Italian international as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard.
Chelsea are braced to lose Hazard this summer as he’s yet to sign a new contract and with his current deal approaching it’s final 12 months, the Belgian international is being tipped for a move to Real Madrid.
Maurizio Sarri has already agreed a deal to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund but with Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi also linked with moves this summer, Chelsea need to add another attacker to their ranks.
The Daily Mail says that while the likes of Richarlison, Philippe Coutinho, Leon Bailey, Marco Asensio and Pablo Sarabia are all potential targets, Insigne is seen as the most natural replacement for Hazard.

However, signing him isn’t going to be easy as the newspaper says Napoli value Insigne at a whopping £140m so Chelsea and Liverpool will need to dig deep if they’re to lure him away from Italy this summer.
